A little background
Gracing world stages for 34 years
The Bloemfontein Children’s Choir has been performing on world stages since 1987 and has won numerous awards across the globe.

The Bloemfontein Children’s Choir was chosen as the Bloemfontein Institution of the Year on two occasions and we proudly represent central South Africa wherever we tour and perform.
For more than 30 years the choir has become a well-known international act and hundreds of choir members have been part of very special and unique tours to all parts of the world. Countries visited include Belgium, Sweden, Russia, Spain, Canada, USA, Netherlands, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Japan, Switzerland and England and Scotland.
The choir has also performed with, among other, international stars like Andre Rieu, Helmut Lotti, Andrei Lugovski, Dana Winner and also numerous well-known international choirs. Local artist whom we have been on stage with include Nataniel, Jennifer Jones, On-Que, Jannie Moolman, Laurika Rauch, Corlea Botha, Sonja Herholdt, Matthys Roets, David Fourie, Nico Carstens and Thabo Hlongwane.

2020: Dr Huibrie Verster, retires. Mr Werner Stander is appointed as the new Music Director. Dr Frelet De Villiers is appointed as accompanist.
2019: United Kingdom, Scotland; performances St Mary's Church Cambridge with Roderick Williams in Oxford, "Across Border" concert in York, Striling Bridge Festival, Dunblane Scotland, concert at Glasgow Halls, Glasgow and St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh.
2017: Belgium and Netherlands, Christmas performances, Maastricht, Tongeren, St Truiden and Wellen
2016: Disney World, Orlando- Performed on the Big Stage 2016: Powell River, Canada 2nd Place International Choral Kathaumixw Festival.
2013: Austria, Germany & Belgium. Dome Church in Salzburg.
2011: Krakow Advent Choral Competition
2010: Accompanied Andre Rieu on South African Tour
2009: Sweden - Adolf Fredrik Music School 70th Celebration of school tour.
2008: Wakayama, Japan – Songbridge performance
2006: Belgium Christmas
2004: St Petersburg, Russia - Performed with male choir
2002: Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - 2nd performance with the Mormon Tabernacle choir.
1st Prize Children's Universal Choir Festival, Fort Worth, Texas, USA.
Neerpelt, Belgium.- 1st place at the 50th Europees Muziekfestival voor de Jeugd,
2000: Tola, Spain.- 3rd place in the choir competition
2000: Linz, Austria. Two Silver Medals at the First World Choir Olympics
1998: Debrecen, Hungary- 3rd Prize Béla Bartok competition
1998: Vienna, Austria – 1st Prize 27th International Music festival
1998: Neerpelt, Belgium. 1st Prize 46th Europees Muziekfestival voor de JeugdIn
1996: Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - performed with the Mormon Tabernacle choir.
1996: Powell River, Canada - 2nd prize International Choral Kathaumixw Festival
1994: England - First International Youth Festiva.
1991: Montreux, Switzerland - Prix du Public Prize at the 27th International Choir competition.

For many of our choristers being part of the choir provides a place to grow, to learn and to develop life skills.
